obsessionisthenewblack wants me to answer #5 first, because according to her “I want to know what you do when I’m not around”
Weird Things I do When I’m Alone.
I have conversations with people I know aren’t here. It was something I did as a kid to entertain myself and unfortunately, it carried into adulthood. So my little fantasies play out via ME. I have fights with myself (as if it were me and another person), romances, and really boring chit chat. I was caught once by a coworker and it was really embarrassing. Cos really I know that the “other person” I’m speaking to/about/for isn’t there. It’s sorta just like… a one person play. Whatever.
Day 11 - Part of a character’s past you want to know more about
That. is easy. Because Sophie’s character has never. had. a. flashback. Well, con flashbacks sure, but none that reveal anything about her life before the team came together. No Sophie as a kid, no Sophie in high school, no Sophie’s family… There was one or two of her doing her usual grift thing and the one of her and Nate shooting each other…. but again, nothing that really taught us anymore about her. So while each character has more I’d love to learn about them, it’s the one I know least about that makes me the most curious.
The first two is the obvious choice… my dearest darling Weasley twins! They started being a favourite for their quick wit and hilarious hijinks, but then they grew up and got hot too… So, that didn’t hurt them too much, eh?
The other favourite is Professor Severus Snape. Even during the course of the films, even for how mean he was to Harry (suppooooosedly) or when he killed Dumbledore, I still loved Snape and held onto the idea that perhaps he wasn’t ACTUALLY the bad guy, just that there was more to his story than was revealed thus far. And when the final movie came out and his story was finally told, I was elated to see that I was not only true, but that THIS was also true:
This one is easy and requires little explanation. Joffrey Baratheon Lannister. First of all, this is why children cannot be given too much power in their lives. They are foolish and will abuse it. Even the wisest child can become intoxicated with that much control. Secondly… I have never in my life hated a child character so much in my whole life. This kid is infuriating to the Nth degree. Just… UGH.
This one took some real thought, but I liked The Wire in a Bottle Job… First of all, it was the return of drunk Nate (or at least, drinking Nate… not sure he really got all that drunk in this one). Secondly, it’s a con that is supposed to take days and the fun of this con is that they pulled it off in a matter of minutes. And third, it features a couple of my favourite guest stars, Jeri Ryan and Alan Smyth. A very fun episode and while not the FULL con of the episode, I truly enjoyed the con in a bottle, as it were in The Bottle Job the best.
Also, who doesn’t love Hardison’s reaction when it’s officially pulled off? I mean, come on.
A TIE. Shocker, I know… I know… but I had a real hard time trying to choose between these two and I just couldn’t. The bummer of it is that these characters won’t be on next season, but for their time on the show/in the book, they were really great strong and wonderful characters.
Khal Drogo: One kinda starts off not really liking him… he’s totally barbaric doesn’t speak a lick of English, but over the progression of the first season/book, you literally fall in love with him the same way Daenerys does. He turns out to be completely kind, romantic and very protective of his wife. And honestly the Dothraki language is SO hot.
Eddard “Ned” Stark: Oh Eddard… First of all, a good family man… Loved all his kids, even his ‘bastard’ with all his heart. But being a good hearted man, he trusted the wrong people (even when he was warned NOT to trust them BY their own words…) and sadly, it cost him everything. But he was certainly a character to be loved and I surely did.
So to be honest, I don’t know how well I’m gonna stick to the hours, that seems a bit uncalled for… perhaps days instead, but yea.
hour one: your favorite female character
She went from a pathetic weak little thing that was controlled by her brother and basically sold like a whore to her husband, then suddenly grabbed the reigns of being a Khaleesi and became one of the most BADASS female characters I have ever seen on television… Can’t wait to see what the coming books and seasons will bring to her.
Philosopher’s Stone or as it’s known in the states, where apparently we are too stupid to know what a Philosopher is… The Sorcerer’s Stone.
Now before any Harry Potter purists shoot me in the face, let me remind everyone that I deliberately choose to read the books NOW that I have seen all the films and the ONLY reason I rank this as my least favourite thus far is because I didn’t learn anything new about the story or characters that I hadn’t already picked up through the films. Other than that, it was a lovely book.
I’ve never really done any non-canon shipping that I know of for any show… And I don’t read fanfic at all but the pairing that cracks me up the most is Hardison/Eliot so I figure it counts well enough as a favourite fictional romance.
Well to be honest, I’m only two BOOKS into the series. During the run of the films, I had made the conscious decision that I wanted to see all the movies before I started reading the books because when people read the books THEN see the films, they are usually HORRIBLY disappointed. And I was able to view all the films unspoiled (for the most part) because I hadn’t read the books yet. Now, that I’m reading them, of the two I’ve done so far… I’m enjoying this one very much.
It was when the Prisoner of Azkaban was about to be released… My friend was going with her roommate to the midnight showing and had been on my ass for sometime about the fact that I’d never seen a single HP movie or read any of the books. I tried to explain to no avail that I was far too old for children’s movies and books. But she somehow convinced me to go along to the movie and beforehand, had me watch all of Sorcerer’s Stone and most of Chamber of Secrets before we had to leave to get to the theater.
I remember having to ask a few questions to keep up, but I was primarily delighted by Gary Oldman (Sirius, if you are actually asking), Alan Rickman and those adorable lads who play the Weasley twins.
From that point on, I was hooked and felt a bit foolish that, like Lord of the Rings before it, I almost let my idea of what I THOUGHT it was keep me from finding out what it TRULY was/is.
It’s another tie I’m afraid. When I went searching for screencaps, I knew exactly the one I was looking for. The dance from The Reunion Job… But then I came across the other one, which honestly looks like the poster for a RomCom, but it’s so perfect for Nate and Sophie, just as they are perfect for one another… So inevitably I had to go with both screencaps and call it a day cos… well… I just couldn’t pick one over the other!
To be honest, this is a two part answer… Cos I have a favourite comedic flashback and a favourite dramatic flashback…
Comedic: Hardison gets Iceland to pay for Nana’s medical bills…
Of ALL the funny flashbacks, this one had me rollin’ in the aisles laughing. The one of Eliot’s from the Reunion Job was great too but Aldis in coke bottle glasses and braces… just… slayed me.
Dramatic: Nate’s reaction to his son’s death.
Urg. This STILL hits me square in the heart, everytime I see it. This is a main motivator in Nate’s backstory and a lot of why he is the sadomasochist he is. Even in such a small scene, you feel the pain and loss that Nate feels and really demonstrates for any non-believers WHY Timothy Hutton is an academy award winning actor. It’s not just a superficial title, it’s a well earned accomplishment.
Pick your 4 all-time favourite shows and answer the following questions about them.
1. Leverage 2. Six Feet Under 3. LOST 4. Sex and the City
Who is your favourite character in 2?
Nate Fisher. One could argue that I have thing about complicated men named Nate. I wouldn’t necessarily argue against them.
Who is your least favourite character of 1?
uhhh… None of the main cast, so… uh… wow. This is gonna take some thought. Cos even some of the enemies (Sterling) are kinda great… I guess I’m just gonna have to answer this way… my least favourite is the guest stars or featured extras over all the seasons that overact. I don’t like when people get cast and are so bad they take you right out of the story, and all shows have them here and there… so. Cos I can’t figure out who else to choose, that would be it.
What is your favourite episode of 4?
Ahhhhhhh!!! A Woman’s Right to Shoes. Hands Down.
Think about it. If you are single, after graduation there isn’t one occasion where people celebrate you. … Hallmark doesn’t make a “congratulations, you didn’t marry the wrong guy” card. And where’s the flatware for going on vacation alone?
UGH. SO TRUE!!!! I whine about this same thing all the time, lol.
What is your favourite season of 1?
Fourth! As mentioned before, I think that all the basics are firmly established and now they can really have fun with the episodes.
What is your favourite relationship in 3?
For all the relationships in LOST… and considering that Sawyer was my favourite… the best relationship in that whole show was HANDS DOWN….
Desmond and Penny. <3
Who is your anti-relationship in 4?
Carrie and Aleksandr. I used to hate him altogether, but as I got older, I started to understand him and where he was coming from a bit more. But for all her “long-term” relationships on the show, I still liked him the least.
How long have you watched 1?
Since it started in 2008. I saw a preview that said there was a TV Show with Timothy Hutton and I set my DVR immediately. Been a fan since I was 13 years old, wasn’t gonna miss that one!
Who is your favourite actor in 2?
That’s a tough one. I’d say it’s an EVEN split down the middle between Peter Krause and Michael C. Hall. Both of them had to take their characters to some really high and EXTREMELY low FUCKED UP places and they both did it with amazing emotional skill, clarity and ability.
How did you become interested in 4?
I had been hearing about it for quite a while, but we didn’t have HBO at my parents house when it was originally airing. When I went to England, it was on the regular, non-cable type channels and I finally got to catch an episode or two (I know I saw the Bon Jovi guest star episode there)… When I was working at Tower though, I made friends with my girl Lizzie and we started doing Sex and the City dinner nights. Dinner, the show, wine, weed, smokes, and LOTS of laughs. Most of my memories of the show are of Lizzie at this point.
Which show do you prefer, 1 or 3?
No. No comparison. They are two very different shows and suit very different moods.
Which show have you seen more episodes from, 2 or 4?
Well I have seen both of them in their entirety… So let me go see which one had more episodes overall… Alrighty, Sex and the City it is. Six Feet Under had a total of 63 episodes… Sex and the City had 94 episodes PLUS two films.
If you could be anyone from 3, who would you be?
Well the easy way out answer would be Kate because she makes out with Sawyer so much, but in terms of the character I think is the most like me or maybe the most I’d wanna be like… I’d have to go with sweet, motherly, Claire…
Would a 1/2 crossover work?
lol if Six Feet Under still aired, it almost could… The Grave Digger Job meets Kroehner International… I could totally see it.
Which has better theme music, 1 or 4?
Both are instrumental, get stuck in your head easily, but I do think I prefer Leverage’s over Sex and the City’s theme song overall.
